About the role
The Health & Safety Team at Salix Homes provides expert advice and support across the organisation, covering office-based activity, housing services, and construction-related repairs, maintenance and investment projects. The team supports audits, inspections, training delivery and accident investigations, ensuring compliance with legislation and our ISO 45001 certified safety management system.
Responsibilities
- Support the Health & Safety Manager in delivering a proactive and professional health and safety service, with a strong focus on construction and property-related activity.
- Provide expert H&S advice to managers on risk assessment, COSHH, PPE, DSE, accident investigation and training.
- Support compliance with CDM Regulations across repairs, maintenance and investment programmes.
- Review pre-construction information and Construction Phase Plans and advise duty holders.
- Undertake audits, inspections and site visits, producing reports and monitoring actions.
- Investigate accidents and incidents, including RIDDOR reporting.
- Support contractor assurance, training delivery and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Deputise for the Health & Safety Manager when required.
Qualifications
- Level 6 health and safety qualification (e.g. NEBOSH Diploma) and IOSH membership.
- Experience providing H&S advice within housing, construction or property environments.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety and CDM legislation.
- Experience of audits, inspections and contractor management.
- Ability to manage a busy workload and work independently.
- Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
