About the role

The Health & Safety Team at Salix Homes provides expert advice and support across the organisation, covering office-based activity, housing services, and construction-related repairs, maintenance and investment projects. The team supports audits, inspections, training delivery and accident investigations, ensuring compliance with legislation and our ISO 45001 certified safety management system.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Health & Safety Manager in delivering a proactive and professional health and safety service, with a strong focus on construction and property-related activity.
  • Provide expert H&S advice to managers on risk assessment, COSHH, PPE, DSE, accident investigation and training.
  • Support compliance with CDM Regulations across repairs, maintenance and investment programmes.
  • Review pre-construction information and Construction Phase Plans and advise duty holders.
  • Undertake audits, inspections and site visits, producing reports and monitoring actions.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents, including RIDDOR reporting.
  • Support contractor assurance, training delivery and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Deputise for the Health & Safety Manager when required.

Qualifications

  • Level 6 health and safety qualification (e.g. NEBOSH Diploma) and IOSH membership.
  • Experience providing H&S advice within housing, construction or property environments.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety and CDM legislation.
  • Experience of audits, inspections and contractor management.
  • Ability to manage a busy workload and work independently.
  • Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
