Job Summary
This position exists to determine eligibility for disability services and to implement accommodations that ensure equal access to academic programs and campus life at Salisbury University. The Accessibility Specialist plays a critical role in supporting individuals with disabilities by coordinating individualized services, interpreting documentation, and developing accommodation plans. The role also involves providing guidance and support to students, faculty, and staff, managing assistive technology, leading outreach efforts on disability-related topics, and providing one-on-one consultation and academic support services. This position contributes to creating an inclusive campus by ensuring legal compliance, promoting accessibility, and supporting the overall mission of the campus.

Authority and Accountability
The position reports to Candace Henry and has no direct reports or budgetary responsibilities.

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Special Education, Rehabilitation Counseling, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field is required. Master’s degree in the same fields is preferred.
  • Relevant Experience: Required: Direct experience providing disability-related services to diverse students/clients and/or working with diverse colleagues. Preferred: Experience in postsecondary disability services, assistive technology, and program assessment/evaluation.

  • Knowledge of ADA, ADAAA, and Section 504.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with assistive technology and alternative formats.
  • Cultural competence and ability to support a diverse student population.
  • Ability to de-escalate stressful situations and maintain confidentiality.

Additional Job Information:
The position is a Contingent II, (full-time), (non-exempt) position. Priority will be given to applicants who apply by January 27, 2026. However, the position will remain open until filled.
