Under direct supervision, provides routine assistance in the preparation and serving of food, sanitation, and/or kitchen maintenance. The Dining Services Department at Salisbury University is accepting applications for Food Service Assistant (Part-Time Contingent I) positions in Dining Services in an effort to maintain a pool of applicants for future openings. Primary Job Duties:
- Provide routine assistance in the preparation and serving of food;
- Set up and break down service lines;
- Cashiering;
- Maintain safe and sanitary conditions;
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment such as grills, fryers, ovens, mixers, toasters, etc.;
- Consistently demonstrate excellent customer service skills to all internal and external customers;
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Serve Safe or Food Handler and/or Sanitation Certification required by the end of the first contract period/semester;
- Ability to assist in preparing and serving food;
- To read and write;
- To perform basic arithmetic computations;
- To operate food service equipment and appliances;
- To use kitchen utensils;
- To work in irritating environments and adverse temperature conditions;
- To follow oral and written instructions;
- To lift, transport and stock food service supplies, materials and equipment;
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- One year food service experience;
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Additional Job Information:
These are part-time (19 hour) non-exempt contingent positions with no benefits. Salary is up to $15.75 per hour. Working periods include late-August through mid-December and late-January through late-May; work schedules within these periods will vary based upon the needs of the University.
