About the Role

  • To manage the strategic and operational running of the Engineering Department.
  • Develop new ways of working to improve efficiencies.
  • Manage a team of skilled electrical and mechanical engineers, schedulers, coordinators, and external contractors.
  • To meet site targets for safety, food safety, and quality.
  • Hands-on role, with a requirement to be flexible to meet the needs of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the coordination and identification of plant improvements with Departmental Managers
  • Lead the Engineering Team and manage the Engineering function.
  • Diagnosing, assessing, and carrying out a root cause investigation into mechanical and electrical breakdowns.
  • Lead on key projects and the implementation of a factory-wide PM system.
  • Management of factory energy consumptions, identifying savings and energy control measures.
  • Budgetary management/control, responsibility for the day-to-day management of the site repair and maintenance budgets.
  • Implement safe systems of work and manage third-party site engineering work.
  • Upholding GMP engineering standards across the sites, third-party technical customer audits, and statutory inspections.
  • Continuous improvement of engineering ways of working to ensure improved equipment performance.
  • Responsible for maintaining and improvement of all engineering assets and developing asset care strategy.
  • Ensure Maintenance Connection is up to date including proposed corrective actions.
  • To set challenging, achievable engineering KPIs that will lead to continuous improvements in factory performance.
  • Ensure that delivery of agreed SLA standards is maintained where appropriate.
  • To facilitate the capture of relevant performance data for the effective management of process performance
  • To lead and participate in lean manufacturing initiatives to achieve continuous improvements in process performance.
  • To ensure compliance with relevant environmental legislation.
