Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust is seeking enthusiastic, motivated Theatre Clinical Specialist to join our General Surgery and Emergency Surgery Team and contribute to the expansion of our services. A dedicated team at Salisbury District Hospital provides a comprehensive range of services across the General, Upper GI, Colorectal, and Emergency Surgery Theatres. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. While this post is for General and Emergency Theatres, there is scope to further develop your knowledge and skills across broader specialty areas. The activity is organized between Main Theatres and Day Surgery, with plenty of support from our Senior Team Lead for the successful applicant. Responsibilities include:

  1. Deliver high-quality evidence-based care with attention to patient experience.
  2. Supervise and develop junior staff and learners, liaising with the education team.
  3. Demonstrate efficient list management and an awareness of operational issues. Assist in the department\’s recovery plan to maximize theatre utilization and minimize delays.
  4. Attend multidisciplinary scheduling meetings to plan care and manage theatre time effectively.
  5. Work closely with materials management and procurement to manage effective stock control through cost-effective practices.
  6. Be familiar with the Datix reporting system—working with the department to manage action plans and learning outcomes to help reduce risk and enhance patient safety.
  7. Assist in the equipment needs of the service by helping to rationalize instrumentation and supporting the capital bid process.
  8. Undertake line management duties such as return-to-work interviews, one-to-one meetings, and appraisals.
