To assist the Estates Officer (Operations) and be responsible for assisting in the provision of a high quality, efficient, responsive, flexible & effective estates service to Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust, working as part of the Estates Department Team. The post holder will be required to work as part of the Estates Operational Team along with Building, Engineering and Project Officers being specifically responsible for the provision of the estates service to Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust.
Main duties of the job:
- Supervision of Estates Trade Staff teams as appropriate
- Supervision of contractors as appropriate
- To carry out inspections, tests, repairs, installations, as directed on Trust property, plant and infrastructure.
- To undertake work as identified on allocated works dockets, completing the works and updating the Trust CAFM system in a timely manner.
- Organise and coordinate own workload and manage assigned trade staff workload as required.
- To report faults identified either when carrying out routine checks/Planned preventative Maintenance or in the course of the normal working day.
- To identify parts and or equipment required to carry out designated work and use Estates Stores system to obtain required items in accordance with Trust Standing Financial Instructions.
- To investigate technical failures as directed and identify the appropriate permanent repair required, to ensure on-going reliability and statutory compliance.
- To be part of the Estates escalation process and assist other estate staff at all levels with technical works and technical problem solving where requested.
- Carry out internal audits of Estates teamwork and practice.
- Requirement to participate in Estates on-call rota.

Person Specification:
- Recognised and registered EITB, City & Guilds, modern apprenticeship, NVQ level 4 or approved equivalent training in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Plumbing.
- Demonstrable in-depth knowledge and experience within the required technical disciplines (e.g. BMS, decontamination etc.)
- Experience of working within and developing a 'safe system of work'.
- Knowledge of the application of: Health and Safety legislation, ACOPs, guidance and rules, NHS technical standards (e.g., Health Technical Memoranda) and Trust policies, basic life support and emergency aid and where required a readiness to train.
- Skill in maintenance, fault finding and diagnostic procedures, test & repair work on a very wide range of complex engineering services & equipment, with the ability to work unassisted in varying, often technical environments whilst complying with Health & Safety / environmental regulations and standards.
- Ability to Plan and organise in coordination with contractors unsupervised routine and complex maintenance, analysis, solution finding and repair work.
- Trained in Health & Safety, i.e., NEBOSH, IOSH, First Aid etc.
- Registration with approved organisations, i.e., UK Register of Electricians, JIB Schemes, Gas Safe, etc.
- Experience across several of the HTM's acting as either a CP or AP.
- Knowledge of HTM's, HBN's and Estates specific legislation.
