The Salisbury Museum is looking for a new member of staff to oversee the financial administration of our service. You will be joining the museum at an exciting stage in its development. Following our £5.1 million redevelopment, supported primarily by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the museum has entered a new chapter. With transformed galleries, improved visitor facilities and enhanced learning and community spaces now firmly established, we are focused on building on this success and delivering our long-term ambitions.
Our vision is for Salisbury Museum to be a key part of the city's cultural life, making a significant cultural, educational and economic contribution to Salisbury and the surrounding region. We are achieving this by:
- Working with our communities to present engaging and accessible displays of our internationally important collections of archaeology, art, ceramics, fashion, social history and natural history.
- Placing people at the heart of everything we do through an ambitious programme of learning, participation and events, developing our digital offer, and working with partners to reach diverse audiences across Wiltshire.
- Strengthening the museum's long-term sustainability through increased visitor engagement, a growing membership, expanded commercial opportunities, environmental responsibility, and investment in our staff and volunteers.
This role is central to the successful operation of the museum. You will be responsible for supporting the museum's financial administration while also contributing to the smooth day-to-day running of the organisation. As part of a small, collaborative team, you will help deliver an excellent experience for our visitors, members, volunteers and partners.
Excellent organisational, communication and financial administration skills are essential, and an interest in museums, heritage or local history would be an advantage.
