We are seeking a friendly, organized, and efficient Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. In this pivotal role, you will be the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing appointment scheduling, patient records, and administrative duties. Main Duties:
- Greet and welcome patients with a warm, professional attitude
- Manage appointment bookings, cancellations, and reminders via phone and online systems
- Register new patients and maintain accurate patient records
- Handle patient enquiries both in person and over the phone efficiently and confidentially
- Process incoming and outgoing correspondence, including medical referrals and test results
- Manage patient check‑in and check‑out procedures, including payment processing if applicable
- Coordinate communication between patients, GPs, and other healthcare professionals
- Ensure compliance with data protection and confidentiality policies at all times
- Support the smooth running of the practice by performing other reception and administrative duties as required

The practice is led by Dr Jain & Dr Knight and is supported by a dedicated team of 5 GPs, a strong duty team and a highly skilled nursing team. Reception and administration teams play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the practice and supporting both patient and clinical care.
Job responsibilities:
As a Medical Receptionist in a primary care setting, you will be the first point of contact for patients attending the practice. Your role is essential in ensuring smooth daily operations by managing appointments, patient communication, and administrative tasks, all while delivering a welcoming and professional service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and welcome patients in a friendly and professional manner
- Manage appointment bookings, cancellations, and reminders using the practice's scheduling system
- Register new patients and maintain accurate, up‑to‑date patient records in compliance with data protection policies
- Handle incoming phone calls and patient inquiries promptly and efficiently
- Assist patients with completing necessary forms and documentation
- Manage patient check‑in and check‑out procedures, including processing payments if required
- Receive and distribute incoming mail, test results, and correspondence to relevant clinical staff
- Support clinical teams by preparing patient information for consultations
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information in line with GDPR and NHS guidelines
- Carry out other administrative duties as required to support the practice
Skills and Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a healthcare or reception role is preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure
- Proficient in using computer systems and software relevant to primary care
- Understanding of confidentiality and data protection requirements
HOURS are week One & Week Two 51.75 hrs over two weeks
Week 1:
- Monday 08.00 to 13.00 1hr Lunch 14.00 to 18.45
- Tuesday Day off
- Wednesday 13.00 to 18.00
- Thursday 08.00 to 13.00 Lunch 14.00 to 18.45 (20.00)
- Friday 07.45 to 13.00
Week 2:

Qualifications:
- Minimum of GCSEs or equivalent (including English and Maths) desirable
- Previous experience in a reception or administrative role, preferably in healthcare
- Experience working in a medical or primary care environment is an advantage
- Experience using appointment booking systems and patient record software preferred
