Role overview

This is a relationship-led role for someone who loves being out in the community, meeting people, opening doors and turning local goodwill into long-term support for terminally ill patients and their families.

We are looking for an ambitious, energetic and relationship-focused Community Fundraiser to join our fundraising team and grow sustainable community income across Salisbury and the surrounding communities.

You will be a key face of the charity locally, building relationships with individuals, community groups, schools, local businesses, clubs and volunteers.

You will manage and grow a portfolio of supporters, providing excellent stewardship and helping them maximise their fundraising potential.

You will contribute to delivering an annual community fundraising target, while developing new opportunities and strengthening our presence across the local community.

Key responsibilities

  • Recruit and develop relationships with new community supporters, groups, schools, clubs and local organisations to fundraise for the charity.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with existing supporters, providing excellent stewardship.
  • Work with the Volunteer Coordinator to recruit and develop a network of Volunteer Fundraising Ambassadors across the local community.
  • Support and motivate volunteers to raise funds, promote the charity and build new supporter networks.
  • Identify and develop new community fundraising new initiatives and partnerships.
  • Deliver engaging presentations and pitches to schools, community groups, clubs, societies and local organisations.
  • Represent the charity at community events, meetings and networking opportunities.
  • Work with fundraising and marketing colleagues to promote campaigns, fundraising products and opportunities.
  • Develop and manage the annual community fundraising budget with the Head of Fundraising, reporting monthly on income and expenditure.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records using the charity CRM system.
  • Ensure all activity complies with fundraising regulations, GDPR and organisational policies.
  • Support individuals within the community organising fundraising events
  • Contribute ideas to develop and improve our community fundraising programme.
  • The role is varied and requires a flexible approach, including some evening and weekend work and supporting key charity fundraising events.

Responsibilities may also develop in line with the needs and priorities of the charity.

Person specification

  • Experience in fundraising, sales, account management, community engagement, events, volunteering, local partnerships or another relationship-led role.
  • Confident and approachable, with excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive and comfortable working towards targets.
  • Ability to inspire and encourage others to get involved.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
  • Comfortable presenting to groups and representing the charity.
  • Willingness to work some evenings and weekends, with TOIL provided.
  • Full clean driving licence, access to a car and willingness to travel.
  • Experience in community or regional fundraising.
  • Experience managing income targets, budgets or supporter portfolios.
  • Experience delivering presentations or public speaking.
  • Experience developing local business or community partnerships.
  • Knowledge of CRM systems.
  • Charity sector experience.
