- We are seeking a proactive and customer-focused
Handyperson to join our on-site Facilities Management team at a prestigious client location near Didcot.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced maintenance professional who enjoys a varied role, supporting the day-to-day upkeep, appearance, and functionality of a busy commercial and laboratory environment.
You'll play a key role in delivering planned and reactive maintenance, fabric repairs, porterage services, and general site support, helping to ensure a safe, compliant, and efficient workplace for our client.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive building fabric repairs.
- Complete general maintenance tasks including carpentry, painting and decorating, making good, minor repairs, fixtures, and fittings.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests, ensuring service levels and response times are achieved.
- Support the safe movement of furniture, equipment, parcels, and goods across the site.
- Assist with meeting room setups and event support requirements.
- Maintain accurate records using the CAFM system and complete all associated documentation.
- Support laboratory operations, including the movement of equipment and other agreed facilities tasks.
- Assist with laundry and stores services where required.
- Carry out routine compliance and equipment checks following training and authorisation.
- Support waste management activities and ensure waste is handled and disposed of correctly.
- Work in accordance with Health & Safety legislation, site procedures, permits to work, RAMS, and company policies.
- Provide a professional and customer-focused service at all times.
About You
- Qualification, Certifications and Training Essential Desirable
- GSCE in English and Maths or Equivalent
- Relevant trade qualification or proven experience in building fabric maintenance, carpentry, decorating or general repairs.
- Legionella awareness / L8 training, or willingness to complete relevant training.
- IOSH Working Safely or equivalent
- Knowledge, Specific Role Skills and Experience Essential Desirable
- Experience in general maintenance, building fabric repairs, minor works and safe working in a facilities management environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, taking ownership of assigned tasks.
- Experience of working with clients, contractors and colleagues in a professional and customer-focused manner.
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements, safe systems of work, RAMS and site procedures.
- Ability to identify service issues and suggest practical improvements to working practices.
- Basic IT skills and experience using CAFM or work management systems such as Planon on mobile devices.
- Experience of completing tasks in heavily permitted working environments where compliance to H&S site rules and management systems are paramount.
