What will you be doing?
NHS charities operate within a distinctive governance framework. While the charity is formally governed by a Corporate Trustee – Salisbury District Hospital – much of the responsibility for governance, oversight and decisions about the use of charitable funds is delegated to the Charitable Funds Committee (CFC). The CFC features senior Hospital staff (Managing Director, Chief Nursing Officer, Non-Executive Directors, Finance Director) with meeting material prepared by Charity staff. These new independent appointments will join a more empowered committee with delegated authority, operating more like a Trustee body.
New Subcommittees are being created covering Finance, Audit and Risk, and Income Generation and Communications - adding to the pre-existing Grants Subcommittee. The new appointments will sit on at least one of these and be part of an exciting new era for the charity. The CFC will use its newly expanded skills base in support of the Charity Director and excellent executive team to enhance the Stars Appeal's partnership with Salisbury District Hospital, and its links with the local community that supports the charity and its projects so generously.
