The main purpose of the job of Crematorium Technician at Salisbury City Council is to ensure the dignified, safe, and efficient operation of cremation services in accordance with statutory regulations (in accordance with ICCM guidelines and the Code of Cremation Practice) and council procedures. This includes the preparation, operation, and maintenance of cremation equipment, as well as providing respectful and supportive service to bereaved families and funeral professionals.
We are looking for:
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of cremation processes
- Health & Safety Awareness: Knowledge of relevant health and safety, fire safety, manual handling, and environmental procedures to ensure safe working conditions.
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate sensitively and clearly with bereaved families, Funeral Directors, colleagues, and external agencies, demonstrating empathy and professionalism.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy when handling statutory paperwork, cremation records, and equipment checks.
- Practical Dexterity: Skill in operating technical equipment.
- IT Literacy: Basic skills in using computer systems for record keeping, scheduling, and communication.
