Salisbury City Council has a new opportunity for the right individual to join our friendly team. Assisting with the cleansing of the highways and footpaths throughout the City and within the parks and open spaces, ensuring DEFRA grade A standards are achieved.
About the role:
- Removal of litter
- Servicing street litter bins
- Street sweeping
- Removing weeds, graffiti, fly-tipping and fly-posting
- Gathering evidence required for prosecutions
- Driving a Council Streetscene vehicle
- Steam cleaning
We are looking for someone who:
- Experience of working independently and part of the team
- Experience of working outdoors in all conditions and a willingness to complete a number of cleansing tasks as directed
- Capable of working effectively without supervision
- Able to complete daily and weekly task sheets, where appropriate
- Capable of diverting working schedules as directed in response to emerging issues i.e. spillages, accidents etc.
- Build effective working relationships with colleagues
- Physically able to operate a variety of cleansing machinery and undertake a number of cleansing activities including manual cleansing and weeding
- Able to handle bagged and bulky waste and transfer to relative collection areas
- Able to comply with H&S requirements and responsibilities of post
- Flexible, punctual and reliable
- Have an awareness and identify occurring situations
- Friendly, approachable and able to communicate with members of the public
- Attention to detail
- Enthusiastic and self-motivating
- Has a full driving license - Essential
