Overview

Location: Salisbury

Salary: £12.85 per hour (Note: Salisbury City Council is currently undergoing a job evaluation project that is due to impact the salary scale in November, therefore pay is subject to change before the job is offered)

Hours: 35 Hours per week / 0.95 FTE (hours based on a 4 week rota), 5 days a week including a rota of weekends.

About Us

At Salisbury City Council, our Customer Services Team plays a pivotal role in supporting the entire council. As a valued member of our team, you\’ll be serving visitors and local residents with a warm welcome, offering a friendly and professional service in both Salisbury Information Centre and Salisbury Shopmobility.

About You

We\’re in search of a capable team player, ideally from a customer service background. If you are proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, and thrive in building meaningful customer relationships through exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, you\’re exactly who we need. Cash handling experience would be beneficial.

Essential Criteria

  • Experience of customer care and dealing with the public
  • Experience of dealing with numerous and varied queries in a timely manner and handling queues when necessary
  • Good local, regional and national geographical knowledge
  • Understanding of local services
  • Outstanding customer care skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • IT keyboard skills
  • A minimum of Grade C GCSE in English, Maths or equivalent
  • A friendly disposition with a courteous and polite manner
  • Smart, professional appearance
  • Ability to demonstrate empathy, patience and professionalism at all times
