We are delighted to offer this opportunity at our Major Trauma Centre, part of the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust.

The Major Trauma Centre, based at our Salford site, features state-of-the-art theatre facilities.

This is an exciting opportunity for a committed individual capable of providing leadership to improve patient care and staff experience while safely reducing costs.

We seek a team member with excellent communication and negotiation skills, capable of working collaboratively across the Trust, with high organisational skills and the ability to work independently. The candidate should be able to make informed clinical decisions in complex situations.

You will need to be committed to educating and supporting junior staff in the theatre environment, demonstrating excellent clinical leadership and people management skills.

If you possess the interpersonal skills and qualities to be part of a forward-thinking, innovative team with the ambition to deliver the best theatre service in the UK, we would like to hear from you.

Our facilities include 24 theatres across three areas covering Neurosurgery, Trauma, Spinal Surgery, Renal, Pain, ENT, Angiography, MR Scan, Urology, Gynaecology, Dental, Upper and Lower GI, Orthopaedics, and a dedicated 24-hour Emergency service.

The Recovery service operates 24/7, with various shifts including day shifts (early/late), long days, weekends, twilights, and nights, due to the complexity of procedures across specialties.

Applicants should have substantial post-qualification experience, mentorship/educator experience, and a portfolio demonstrating commitment to personal and professional development. Flexibility and dedication to service needs are essential.

The main duties include:

  1. Clinical leadership within a fast-paced, complex recovery unit.
  2. Ensuring safe staffing across multiple areas/services.
  3. Decision-making and problem solving in clinical and non-clinical settings.
  4. Effective communication with staff across the Trust.
  5. Managing resources to reduce costs safely.
  6. Ensuring high-quality post-operative patient care.
  7. Performance management of the team.
  8. Managing sickness absence and supporting staff.

The Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust provides hospital and integrated health and social care services to over one million people across Greater Manchester, employing 20,000 colleagues committed to high standards of care.

We value our core principles of care, appreciation, and inspiration. We offer roles with purpose and flexibility, challenging opportunities, and a comprehensive benefits package, including generous annual leave, flexible working, and protected wellbeing hours.
