We have two exciting positions available as Apprentice Leisure Team Member whose role is to form an integral part of the leisure team working within leisure facilities in Salford. The positions will be based at two of our busiest facilities:
- Eccles Leisure Centre, Barton Lane, Eccles M30 0DD
- Swinton & Pendlebury Leisure Centre, Cromwell Road, Pendlebury, M27 9SZ
Both facilities attract a large number of attendances, and both have a growing membership with a variety of fitness classes delivered each week.
Fixed term contracts: 15 months commencing 27 July 2026

We are looking for someone who:
- Has good communication skills

- Will assist in delivering an efficient and high-quality service in relation to pool lifeguarding, health and fitness programmes, supervision of changing rooms and common areas and maintaining the very highest standards of cleanliness
- Will be focused on health and safety at all times
- Will be a driving force behind increased memberships and attendances
Water Skills Assessment: Please note: As part of the interview process, all applicants will be assessed on the following:
- Jump/dive into deep water.
- Swim 50 metres in less than 60 seconds.
- Swim 100 metres continuously on front and back.
- In deep water, tread water for 30 seconds.
- Surface dive to the floor of the pool.
- Climb out unaided without ladders/steps and where pool design permits.
National Pool Lifeguard Qualification Course: Successful candidates who do not hold a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) must be available to attend an NPLQ course / assessment on the following 6 consecutive dates: Monday 27th July 2026 – Saturday 1st August 2026, 8:30am – 5:30pm. The content of the course will be a mixture of skills and theoretical knowledge in both a classroom and pool side setting. We encourage candidates to ensure their application demonstrates the skills, knowledge and behaviours outlined in the Person Specification. CV’s will not be accepted.

Please be aware that this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and that you will be required to meet the cost of the DBS check – currently it is £49.50. The payment will be taken back over two payments directly from the first two months salary payments of £24.75. If you do not commence employment for any reason but the DBS has been processed, you will be sent an invoice for the payment.
