About the Role
We are seeking a fully qualified Environmental Health Officer to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional with strong expertise in food safety, health and safety, and infectious diseases to contribute to protecting public health and ensuring high regulatory standards across the City.
About you
Your role will be to contribute to the delivery of the service’s functions to protect and promote the health, safety and wellbeing of residents and visitors to Salford, by undertaking programmed and reactive inspections of food premises, to ensure compliance with food safety legislation. Deliver effective health and safety interventions across a range of commercial and public settings. Investigate and manage cases of infectious disease, outbreaks, and public health risks. You will have the opportunity to lead in areas of work and also provide mentoring support to junior members within regulatory services.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated, fully qualified and experienced EHO who is ready to work in a fast-paced and dynamic team. The role requires an ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. The wide range of activities you will engage in requires good organisation skills and an ability to prioritise. You will be expected to manage your own workload and record your activities accurately on an electronic database.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in the Regulatory Services Team. The team deals with food safety, health and safety, food borne illness, and infectious diseases. The successful candidate will work as part of the team, undertaking inspections of food businesses, investigating accidents and breaches of health and safety legislation, the role also requires assisting colleagues in the Health Protection team.
We are looking for a fully qualified, experienced highly organised and enthusiastic Environmental Health Officer, with experience in food safety, infectious disease control and/or health and safety. You will need to have knowledge of the aforementioned specialisms. Experience in all previously mentioned fields would be ideal. Your communication skills must be excellent, with a commitment to customer care. You must have experience in reviewing risk assessments, and auditing/inspecting premises and processes to ensure compliance.
Ideal candidates will display the following:
- Hold a degree or diploma in Environmental Health and have experience which allows them to undertake the full range of interventions under the Food Law Code of Practice.
- Experience in enforcement and an ability to manage their own workload, whilst working independently as well as part of a team.
- Experience of dealing with confidential data.
- Ability to work on project areas in the aforementioned fields.
