Salford City Council is looking for a motivated and professional Regulatory Services Officer Level 2 (Licensing) to join our busy and supportive Regulatory Services team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with licensing experience who wants to develop their career while helping to keep Salford safe, vibrant and well-regulated.

About the Role

You will play a key role in administering and enforcing a wide range of licensing functions across the city. The team’s remit includes licensing of premises for alcohol, entertainment and late-night refreshment, taxi and private hire services, gambling premises and scrap metal sites and collectors. You will work closely with residents, businesses, responsible authorities and colleagues to ensure licensing objectives are met and standards are maintained. This role offers variety, responsibility and the chance to build strong professional relationships across the city.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Carrying out inspections and compliance checks
  • Providing clear advice and guidance to applicants, licence holders and the public
  • Investigating complaints and supporting enforcement action where required
  • Preparing and reviewing reports, correspondence and legal documentation
  • Working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners, including the police and other agencies

  • Experience of working within a licensing or regulatory environment
  • Good knowledge of licensing legislation and procedures
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Confidence in dealing with members of the public and business owners in a fair and professional manner
