About the role

We are looking to appoint a dedicated and organised Business Support Officer to join our busy school office. This is a key role in helping our school run smoothly and efficiently, ensuring a warm welcome for everyone who walks through our doors. The school office is open from 8am until 3.30pm and the successful candidate must be available during these times. Silvedale is split across two sites, Broadwalk Green and Clifton, and this role is split and will work across both sites.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Creates a happy, calm and positive first impression for all visitors
  • Builds strong relationships with all stakeholders, including external providers
  • Has excellent communication skills—whether face-to-face, on the phone or via email
  • Is confident and competent using IT and office systems
  • Is highly organised, maintaining an efficient and tidy office environment
  • Keeps records and paperwork up to date, ensuring compliance at all times

You will be responsible for undertaking a variety of general administration duties in support of the activities of the school including dealing with the school's financial transactions, assisting with the administration of admissions and school trips, and other general administrative support. In addition, you will spend some of your time working on a busy reception: welcoming visitors to the school, taking phone calls and messages and responding to telephone, email and face-to-face enquiries from parents, staff, pupils and visitors. Knowledge of SIMs MIS is desirable but not essential.

The school is committed to safer recruitment and pre-employment checks will be undertaken before any appointment is confirmed. The post is subject to enhanced Disclosure Barring Service clearance. The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
