We have two exciting positions available for Apprentice Leisure Team Member, who will form an integral part of the leisure team working within leisure facilities in Salford.
Locations:
- Vacancy No 1: Eccles Leisure Centre, Barton Lane, Eccles M30 0DD
- Vacancy No 2: Swinton & Pendlebury Leisure Centre, Cromwell Road, Pendlebury, M27 9SZ
Both facilities attract a large number of attendances, and each has a growing membership with a variety of fitness classes delivered each week.
Contract and Working Hours:
- Fixed term contracts: 15 months commencing 27 July 2026
- Working Hours: Fixed shifts – refer to the attached schedule.

Candidate Profile:
- Good communication skills
- Effectively handle enquiries from customers

- Assist in delivering an efficient and high-quality service in relation to pool lifeguarding, health and fitness programmes, supervision of changing rooms and common areas and maintaining the very highest standards of cleanliness
- Be focused on health and safety at all times
- Drive increased memberships and attendances
Assessment Requirements:
- Jump/dive into deep water
- Swim 50 metres in less than 60 seconds
- Swim 100 metres continuously on front and back
- Tread water for 30 seconds in deep water
- Surface dive to the floor of the pool
- Climb out unaided without ladders/steps where pool design permits
National Pool Lifeguard Qualification:
Successful candidates who do not hold a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) must attend an NPLQ course/assessment on the following 6 consecutive dates: Monday 27 July 2026 – Saturday 1 August 2026, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. The course will mix skills and theoretical knowledge in classroom and pool-side settings.
Interview Schedule:
- Shortlisting will take place: Tuesday 16 June 2026
- Interviews & Water Assessments: Tuesday 23 June 2026
Additional Requirements:
Applicants must pass a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. The cost of the check (£49.50) will be deducted from the first two months’ salary payments. If the DBS has been processed and you do not commence employment, you will receive an invoice for the payment. If you have lived or worked abroad for 3 months or more in the last 5 years or 12 months or more in the last 10 years (whether continuously or in total) while aged 18 or over, you must provide a Certificate of Good Character.
