The Assistant Active Communities Development Officer will support the creation of an effective and sustainable sport and leisure programme within neighbourhoods, including but not limited to holiday activities for children and young people. You will be expected to work flexibly and in line with the needs of the service.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Can demonstrate the ability to plan and prioritise workloads & meet targets.
  • The ability to manage team members, including mentoring and development.
  • Has the ability to manage large groups of young people in a community setting.
  • To hold sports, coaching and/or recreation qualifications, such as governing body awards, etc.
  • Can demonstrate the ability to prepare reports.
  • Has a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a sports/leisure industry.
  • Has experience of organising and managing sports events and holiday programmes.
  • Has experience of coaching young people in areas of deprivation and of taking positive action to manage groups.
  • Has experience of managing and interpreting data.
  • Consistently demonstrates SCL’s behaviours.

Please be aware that this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and that you will be required to meet the cost of the DBS check – currently it is £49.50. The payment will be taken back over two payments directly from the first two months' salary payments. If you do not commence employment for any reason but the DBS has been processed, you will be sent an invoice for the payment.
