As Head of People, you help build an inclusive, high-performing culture that reflects the identity of Salford. The purpose is simple: strengthen the staff experience and make sure people, values and purpose guide daily decisions.

The impact you’ll make

Reporting to the Chief Executive and sitting on the Leadership Team, the role guides both long-term people strategy and day-to-day operations. Strong relationships sit at the centre of this work, supporting leaders and staff to deliver high performance and a positive environment. Key priorities include embedding a values-led culture, driving engagement, and encouraging a sense of belonging across the Club. Managers receive clear guidance on performance, capability and team development. Insight from across departments shapes people solutions that support operational needs.

The position oversees the full employee lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding to development, reward and exit. Policies remain current, consistent and aligned with best practice. Internal communication is coordinated with clarity and regularity across all areas of the Club.

A major focus is equality, diversity and inclusion, ensuring inclusion is reflected in policy, behaviour and decision making. Safeguarding, governance and compliance responsibilities sit within the role, maintaining high standards across all legal and regulatory requirements.

Your skills and experience

The ideal person brings senior experience leading people functions and balancing strategic thinking with practical delivery. Strong knowledge of employment law and good practice supports safe, fair and consistent processes. Trusted relationships with leaders at all levels come naturally. Clear guidance helps managers handle challenges with confidence. Experience of organisational change, team development and culture work is important. An understanding of diversity, inclusion and staff engagement also matters.
