Overview
As Principal Manager, Housing Options, you will lead strategic direction and day-to-day delivery of housing options services in Salford. You will drive homelessness prevention, ensure high-quality housing advice and support, and shape innovative solutions with cross-sector partners. Your role focuses on improving resident outcomes, developing a motivated, customer-focused workforce, and delivering services in line with legislation and best practice. This is a chance to influence a major service within Salford’s Housing Directorate and help build stronger, more inclusive communities.
Responsibilities
- Lead Housing Options teams to deliver customer-focused services.
- Ensure statutory homelessness duties are fulfilled in line with legislation.
- Drive service improvement, performance, and innovation across Housing Options.
- Build and maintain partnerships with housing, health, social care, and voluntary sector organisations.
- Identify new funding opportunities and housing solutions to improve outcomes.
- Coach and develop staff to create a high-performing, empowered culture.
- Support strategic shaping of future service delivery and respond to emerging challenges.
- Represent the service in local, regional, and national forums.
Key requirements
- Significant experience in housing options, homelessness or related housing service.
- Strong knowledge of housing and homelessness legislation, policy and best practice.
- Proven ability to lead teams and deliver customer-focused services.
- Experience driving service improvement, transformation and performance management.
- Excellent communication, influencing and partnership-building skills.
- Ability to analyse complex information and translate into effective service delivery.
