Apprenticeships at Salford City College are an award‑winning College provider of apprenticeships in the North West, supporting around 1,500 apprentices and over 500 employers. Salford City College have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed trainer/assessor to join our dynamic apprenticeship delivery team. This permanent position is ideally suited to someone with a residential childcare background. As part of the health and social care and children’s services delivery team, you will work closely with colleagues, employers and apprentices to ensure that apprentices have an outstanding learning experience, successfully achieve their apprenticeship journey and advance within their chosen career.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with stakeholders (virtually and in‑person) to provide relevant information and guidance on the apprenticeship journey.
  • Support apprentices to develop their knowledge, skills, and behaviours, and undertake site‑based assessments.
  • Review progress with employers and apprentices, and help learners progress through their apprenticeship.
  • Maintain accurate records, identify new apprenticeship opportunities, deliver short training courses, and help the team reach and exceed ambitious targets.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Relevant industry experience and qualifications, especially in residential childcare and early years apprenticeships.
  • Strong communication and customer‑service skills.
  • Preferably hold an assessor qualification; a teaching, training or IQA qualification and knowledge of e‑portfolio systems would also be beneficial.
  • Experience of supporting apprentices undertaking residential childcare and early years apprenticeships.
