Office-based | Growing renewable division
SM Electrical Services is an electrical contractor with a family feel, it has a fast-growing renewable (solar) division, trying to do things differently and better. We do things properly, we take our sales process seriously, we take pride in our work, and are known for delivering exceptional customer service.
As our solar business continues to grow, we’re looking for an energetic, enthusiastic and genuinely self-motivated individual to join us in a key support role — with a clear pathway into a sales position within 1–2 years. We plan this to be the first of many appointments so it is critical to the future success of the business, but this offers the successful candidate a real opportunity to join the business at the right time. Experience is important, attitude and mindset is imperative.
THE ROLE
You’ll sit at the centre of our renewables operation, supporting projects, customers and commercial activity. You’ll be trusted with responsibility early on and given the support, training and exposure needed to grow. Key elements of the role include:
- Providing administrative support to the solar and renewables team
- Supporting project coordination, documentation and customer communication
- Using our CRM system to log enquiries, track projects and support the sales pipeline
- Acting as a first point of contact for customers and delivering an excellent experience
- Supporting quote preparation and learning the sales process from enquiry to completion
This role is designed to bridge operations, sales and our clients, not keep you behind a desk forever, we plan that this role will quickly involve visiting site and seeing customers.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
This role would suit someone who:
- Has recently left college or university with an electrical or mechanical qualification
- Has completed (or is close to completing) an electrical apprenticeship and is looking for a change
- Is organised, confident speaking to people and keen to learn the commercial side of renewables
- Is ambitious, motivated and wants a career path, not just a job
- Has a can do, positive attitude and is a true team player.
You don’t need sales experience — we’ll teach you that. You don’t directly need experience in renewables – We’ll also teach you that. You do need drive, curiosity and a willingness to get stuck in.
WHAT YOU’LL GET
- A real development opportunity in a high-growth solar business
- Structured training, mentoring and support
- Clear progression into a sales-focused role within 1–2 years
- Exposure to renewables, customer engagement and commercial decision-making
- A supportive, family-run environment where effort and attitude are recognised
