Sale Group is a well-established mechanical and building services contractor with over 25 years’ experience delivering high-quality commercial projects across Southern England. We have live sites and a strong pipeline of CAT A and CAT B office fit-out and refurbishment schemes across the South Coast and are looking for an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to take commercial and technical responsibility for mechanical packages on these high-end commercial projects.

Key Information

  • Location: Southampton with future works in Portsmouth up to Reading/Berkshire – Havant office
  • Sector: Mechanical Commercial fit-out and refurbishment (CAT A & CAT B)

Role Responsibilities

  • Manage mechanical services packages from design and pre-construction through installation, commissioning, and handover
  • Full accountability for mechanical packages valued £2m–£15m
  • Procurement and management of subcontractors and suppliers
  • Budget control, cost reporting, variations, CVRs, and final account agreement
  • Lead client, design team, and subcontractor meetings
  • Ensure compliance with CDM regulations, building regulations, and company health and safety standards
  • Oversee commissioning, O&M manuals, snagging, and soft landings process

Requirements

Essential:

  • Proven experience as a Senior Mechanical Site Manager, Mechanical Project Manager, Mechanical Contracts Manager, or Senior Mechanical Engineer delivering CAT A/B office fit-outs
  • Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, VRF/VRV, chilled beams, AHUs, ductwork, pipework, BMS controls, plumbing, and public health systems
  • Experience managing mechanical packages valued £3m+
  • Excellent commercial awareness and client-facing skills

Desirable:

  • Experience with established Southern England fit-out contractors and specialist mechanical subcontractors
  • HNC/HND/Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services
  • SMSTS, CSCS Black/Gold Card, First Aid
  • Stable project history with consistent delivery
