Bar & Experiences Manager
Location: Island Street, Salcombe, Devon
Salary: £28,000 – £30,000 per year + substantial gratuities
Hours: Full-time, permanent (40 hrs/week)
Training: Begins in July 2026
Start date: Late August 2026
The Role
Salcombe Distilling Co. is looking for an enthusiastic and inspiring Bar & Experiences Manager to proudly lead the team at our waterside distillery bar in the heart of Salcombe. You’ll manage the bar, own our tour & tasting experience, run private distillery events, and bring fresh ideas to our seasonal cocktail menu, all with one of England’s most beautiful estuaries on your doorstep.
What you’ll be responsible for
- Day-to-day management of the bar including service standards, stock, cleanliness and hygiene compliance
- Recruiting, onboarding, scheduling and developing bar and tasting staff
- Managing bookings, staffing and hosting of the distillery tour & tasting experience
- Planning and executing events held at the distillery
- Devising new seasonal cocktail menus and limited offers
- Maintaining the highest standards across all guest-facing areas, consistently and without compromise
Skills & experience
- Proven bar management experience, ideally in a premium or destination setting
- Confident, engaging host who is comfortable presenting to groups and delivering a memorable guided experience
- A genuine passion for exceptional spirits, cocktails and hospitality
- Confident people manager and able to recruit, train and motivate a seasonal team
- Hands-on with event management and calm under pressure
- Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene and licensing compliance
- Outgoing, adaptable and energised by a seasonal, waterside location
- Creative flair for developing cocktail menus and seasonal offers
- Right to work in the UK (essential)
Salary & Benefits
£28,000 – £30,000 per year, paid monthly. Our team is regularly and generously tipped by the guests they look after, which is a meaningful and consistent part of your salary package.
