Salamander Solutions Ltd is a global manufacturer of heater cable systems for the oil industry and is seeking a skilled and experienced Maintenance Fitter to join our Deeside team in North Wales. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and setup of industrial machinery, driving a reduction in downtime while reducing costs incurred through breakdowns by applying preventative and reactive maintenance experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Reporting to Production Supervisor, support production by ensuring the plant is well maintained and operational.
- Create an asset register and implement a preventative maintenance program to minimise unplanned downtime and ensure equipment is configured safely for upcoming production activities.
- Take ownership of all assigned work, using initiative and problem‑solving skills to achieve completion within constraints.
- Work closely with the production team to plan maintenance scheduling and plant shutdowns.
- Manage critical and non‑critical spares, including sourcing and cataloguing.
Minimum Qualifications
- Time‑served in a relevant discipline.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- A recognised qualification in a mechanical maintenance field (e.g. City and Guilds, NVQ, ONC).
- 10+ years of relevant experience in roles responsible for the maintenance and repair of manufacturing equipment in a production environment.
- Experience troubleshooting bearings, mechanical seals, lubrication systems, motors, gearboxes, and heat exchangers.
- Proficient in modern IT systems including MS Office and excellent spoken and written communication skills.
- The ability to read and interpret technical documentation such as engineering drawings, procedures, method statements, and risk assessments.
- Driving licence required.
