At Saint Michaels Hospice in Harrogate, we are committed to providing expert, compassionate care to people at the end of life. As part of our Inpatient Unit team, you\βll have the opportunity to make a genuine difference, supporting patients and their families with empathy, dignity, and respect in a peaceful and welcoming environment.
We\βre currently seeking a Senior Team HCA to take on a vital leadership role. This position offers the chance to guide and inspire a team, contribute to service development, and provide high-quality, person-centred care at one of life\βs most important stages.

Job responsibilities
Your Role as a Senior Healthcare Assistant
- Lead and coordinate clinical shifts on the inpatient unit, ensuring safe, effective, and compassionate care delivery.
- Line manage, supervise, and mentor HCA and nursing staff, promoting a positive culture of teamwork and professional development.
- Support and guide students and junior colleagues in their learning and practice.
- Deliver and support training and competency-based development within the care team.
- Help implement best practices in complex and specialist palliative care.
- Take a lead role in assessments, planning, and delivery of individualised care in collaboration with patients, families, and the wider team.
- Manage complex symptoms and provide end-of-life care with skill, sensitivity, and compassion.
- Actively contribute to continuous service improvement and quality initiatives.
- Be a visible role model for excellence in person-centred care.
