At Saint-Gobain Abrasives we are looking for a Turning/Milling Machinist to join our Rotary Dresser Production team, helping to deliver high-quality precision-engineered products that support customers across advanced manufacturing and industrial sectors. This role will be part of our specialist production team based in Staverton. You'll work within a highly skilled manufacturing environment, producing precision rotary dresser products to exceptionally tight tolerances. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced machinist who enjoys working with precision equipment, solving engineering challenges, and taking ownership of product quality from start to finish. You'll also have the opportunity to develop your skills across multiple manufacturing processes while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
This is a permanent role working Monday to Thursday 7:30am - 4:00pm - Friday 7:30am - 12:30pm and following successful completion of probation, you'll also benefit from our flexible working hours policy, allowing you to work your 8 hours shift between the hours of 6am and 6pm.
What we're looking for:
- Experience operating manual turning, milling, grinding and drilling machinery within a precision engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications accurately.
- Experience working to extremely tight tolerances and using precision measuring equipment for inspection and quality control.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and prioritise workload effectively.
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement, safety and maintaining high standards of housekeeping.
What you will be doing:
- Setting up and operating manual machining equipment to manufacture rotary dresser products and moulds to exact customer specifications.
- Performing grinding, turning, milling and drilling operations while maintaining exceptionally tight tolerances and quality standards.
- Conducting self-inspection throughout the manufacturing process using precision measuring instruments to ensure compliance with engineering drawings.
- Supporting production planning through accurate SAP transactions, stock checks and communication with production and engineering teams.
- Maintaining machinery, tooling and work areas to the highest standards while contributing to safety, 5S and continuous improvement initiatives.
