At Saint Gobain Intrastack we\’re looking for a skilled and detail-oriented SFS Infill Designer/Estimator to join our newly created and remote team. As the SFS Infill Designer/ Estimator you will be responsible for designing and estimating steel framing systems used in construction projects. You will work closely with project managers, architects, and structural engineers to develop precise design solutions and cost estimates that align with project specifications and budgets. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in construction design, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the ability to communicate and influence at all levels. What we\’re looking for: This role is critical in ensuring that the steel framing elements of a project are both structurally sound and cost-effective, requiring a blend of technical and soft skills to be successful To be successful you will have: Experience of a fast-moving design and estimating department and the understanding of the principles of cold rolled steel frame construction and building industry requirements Experience of cold rolled steel frame design Ability to identify and implement performance goals, priorities, recommend measures. Strong communication skills at all levels, both written and verbal Ability to consistently demonstrate initiative to spot and highlight areas/matters of concern to Line Manager Able to manage workload and work to tight deadlines Able to work on own or as part of a team IT literate in systems relevant to role i.e. Microsoft Excel & Word or estimating take off software Experience of CAD based drawing packages Good business and commercial awareness – preferably gained from similar industry Able to translate technical language into simple terms Strong literacy and numeracy skills Driving license (preferred) Applicant must be UK based. What you will be doing: You will be responsible for creating detailed designs and calculating project costs for steel framing systems used in construction projects. This role is integral in ensuring that steel framing systems are designed accurately, are cost-effective, and comply with building codes and project specifications. Day to day you will: Produce competitive quotations at given margins to sustain & grow infill supply. Produce basic stud design information. Liaise with design departments to ensure the smooth and accurate transfer of information Liaise with customers / SGIS to ensure project requirements are met within our proposals and agreed pricing structure. Work efficiently and accurately Manage pipeline and approach to each project in agreement with the sales team / SGIS to ensure that opportunities are prioritized, workload is managed and response timescales are achieved. Liaise with technical and production departments to ensure projects progress through the system from order to delivery. Attend pre and post contract meetings as required Maintain weekly record of workload and achievements Ensure that the Intrastack development plan stays on-track and on-budget throughout 2024, 2025 and beyond.
