At Saint-Gobain Abrasives, we are looking for a Plating Technician to join our manufacturing team in Staverton, helping to deliver high-quality rotary dresser products used by customers across a range of demanding industries including aerospace, automotive, bearing and powertrain sectors. This role forms part of our specialist manufacturing team responsible for critical plating processes that directly impact product quality and performance.
You'll play a key role in preparing products for plating, monitoring plating schedules, maintaining process controls and ensuring components meet exact customer specifications. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys a hands-on technical role, takes pride in maintaining high standards and wants to develop their skills within a supportive engineering environment.
This is a permanent role working Monday to Thursday 7:30am - 4:00pm - Friday 7:30am - 12:30pm and following successful completion of probation, you'll also benefit from our flexible working hours policy, allowing you to work your 8 hours shift between the hours of 6am and 6pm.
What we're looking for:
- Experience working within a manufacturing, engineering or process-driven environment where quality and attention to detail are essential.
- Ability to follow technical instructions and interpret engineering drawings accurately.
- Strong attention to detail with a conscientious approach to maintaining process controls and product quality.
- A practical mindset with the ability to carry out basic mechanical and electrical maintenance activities on fixtures and equipment.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn, develop new skills and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
What you will be doing:
- Preparing moulds and components for plating through activities such as lacquering, taping and shielding to ensure products meet customer specifications.
- Monitoring plating solutions, plating schedules and quality control checks to maintain consistent process performance and product quality.
- Maintaining plating equipment, fixtures and fittings, including supporting basic mechanical and electrical repairs where required.
- Monitoring and maintaining deionised water and effluent treatment systems, ensuring compliance with operational and environmental standards.
- Recording production activity through SAP, carrying out product inspections and working closely with colleagues to achieve production and delivery targets.
