Are you someone who enjoys leading people, solving problems and being the driving force behind positive change in a manufacturing environment? At British Gypsum, we are looking for a Planning & Inventory Manager to join our Logistics team at Sherburn. This role plays a crucial role in managing and developing a newly formed planning team, ensuring decisions are made at the right level and the business is fully supported.
This is a genuine opportunity to build a team around the role and embed cross-training. You will act as the engine of evolution for planning and inventory management on site - driving change, improving resilience and strengthening relationships across production, warehousing, logistics partners and central teams.
This role is permanent, full-time working 8:00am - 4:00pm Monday to Friday, based at the Sherburn plant.
What we’re looking for:
- Proven management experience, with the ability to lead, support and develop teams effectively.
- Strong planning, supply chain or logistics experience, ideally within a manufacturing or FMCG environment.
- Confident decision-making ability, including remaining effective under pressure and in time-critical situations.
- A proactive, improvement-focused mindset, with a strong curiosity to challenge the status quo and embrace new ideas.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with a strong customer focus.
What you will be doing:
- Leading and developing the Production Planning & Inventory team, ensuring everyone is cross-trained and the function is resilient and well supported.
- Owning production planning and inventory decisions, making sure issues are resolved at the right level and in a timely way.
- Building strong working relationships across production, warehousing, logistics partners and other British Gypsum / Saint-Gobain sites.
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives to improve plant performance, efficiency and ways of working.
- Acting as a visible leader on site, promoting a strong safety-first culture and full adherence to site rules and standards.
- Providing accurate planning data and reporting to support logistics and operational decision-making.
