At Saint-Gobain Abrasives, we are looking for a High Precision Grinder Operator to join our manufacturing team in Staverton, helping to deliver high-quality precision-engineered components to customers across a range of industries including aerospace, automotive, bearing and powertrain sectors. This role will be part of our specialist engineering team based at our Staverton manufacturing facility. You'll work alongside experienced engineers and operators, producing highly precise components to exact customer specifications. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on engineering, takes pride in producing quality work, and wants to continuously develop their skills within a supportive and growing team.

This is a permanent role working Monday to Thursday 7:30am - 4:00pm - Friday 7:30am - 12:30pm and following successful completion of probation, you'll also benefit from our flexible working hours policy, allowing you to work your 8 hours shift between the hours of 6am and 6pm.

What we're looking for:

  • Experience operating grinding, lapping or other precision machining equipment within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manufacture components to extremely tight tolerances.
  • Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment to verify product quality throughout the manufacturing process.
  • A patient, methodical approach with strong attention to detail and the determination to achieve exceptional levels of accuracy.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn, develop new skills and work across multiple engineering processes as part of a highly skilled team.

What you will be doing:

  • Operating specialist lapping and grinding machinery to finish rotary dresser products to exact customer specifications.
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, work instructions and production documentation to manufacture complex components.
  • Measuring and inspecting products throughout the manufacturing process using precision metrology equipment, ensuring compliance with customer tolerances measured in microns.
  • Maintaining accurate production records through SAP and supporting material and process control activities.
  • Working closely with colleagues across production, engineering and quality teams to achieve production targets, continuous improvement objectives and customer delivery requirements.
