At Saint-Gobain Formula, part of the global Saint-Gobain group, we specialise in high-performance gypsum solutions used across a range of industrial and specialist applications. We’re looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Newark, helping to drive improvements in plant performance, product quality and operational efficiency. This role bridges the gap between process engineering and site maintenance, turning improvement ideas into practical engineering solutions. You’ll work closely with operations and maintenance teams to troubleshoot complex issues and deliver engineering projects that improve reliability, safety and productivity across the site.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Troubleshooting & Fault Diagnosis
    • Supporting the maintenance team with complex electrical and mechanical fault finding
    • Investigating recurring issues across key areas of the plant to identify root causes rather than symptoms
    • Diagnosing PLC-based process issues (Siemens / Allen-Bradley)
  • Project Delivery & Implementation
    • Collaborating with the Process Engineering team to design, build and implement engineering modifications
    • Delivering small to medium CAPEX/OPEX projects (up to £100k)
    • Managing external contractors, sourcing components and commissioning new equipment
    • Translating improvement ideas into practical mechanical or electrical solutions
    • Identifying opportunities to reduce downtime, waste and energy consumption
    • Supporting the review of RAMS and ensuring safe implementation of engineering work
    • Ensuring all engineering modifications are properly documented and communicated to maintenance teams

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience in an Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering role
  • Experience within a heavy industrial or 24/7 manufacturing environment (e.g. gypsum, cement or similar industries)
  • A multi-skilled engineering background, comfortable working with both mechanical and electrical systems
  • Experience delivering continuous improvement or engineering projects
  • Strong analytical and fault-finding skills
  • Ability to work effectively with contractors and cross-functional teams

Qualifications:

  • HND / Level 5 in Mechanical Engineering
  • Apprentice-trained engineer
