The Manufacturing Process Engineer is responsible for developing, optimising, and sustaining production processes to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective high-volume manufacturing. The role focuses on process stability, yield improvement, cycle time reduction, quality enhancement, and continuous improvement, while supporting new product introductions and ongoing operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate manufacturing related issues, route cause analysis and problem solving
- Lead and support operational improvement projects, including lean initiatives, process and process flow improvements
- Support quality improvement / scrap reduction initiatives and support the quality and production teams in this respect
- Process yield and defect rates
- Cycle time and throughput improvement
- Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
- Scrap and rework reduction with a view to achieving Net Manufacturing Savings (NMS)
- Creation and control of SOPs and WI
- Cost savings from process improvements
- Successful NPI launches and production ramp-ups
Essential Criteria
- Bachelors degree or higher in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- HNC/HND relevant experience considered
- Strong understanding of high-volume manufacturing processes
- Experience in the use of process capability analysis (SPC)
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen
- Understanding and use of continuous Improvement, root cause analysis, and structured problem solving
- Experience with automation, fixtures, tooling, material handling and industrial equipment
- Data analysis and use of manufacturing KPIs (OEE, scrap, yield)
Desirable Criteria
- 2 years experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment
- Experience in industries such as automotive, electronics, FMCG, or aerospace
- Masters degree or professional certification (Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt)
- Ability to produce CAD drawings and operational layouts
