AtBritish Gypsumwe are looking for aMine Electrician, to work in a small, focussed, multi-disciplinary team, at ourMineinEast Leake. You’ll participate in delivering continuous improvement projects as well as ongoing maintenance and installation of outbye and inbye infrastructure.
Your role will be critical in ensuring production targets are met, meaning an overall positive experience for our customers.At British Gypsum, East Leake we are seeking an Electrical Craft to join our team. We Mine Gypsum Rock using modern Mining equipment to supply our surface plasterboard plant and use conveyor systems, pumping equipment, and mobile plant as critical process equipment.
Our Mining machines range from Joy continuous miners to shuttle cars and ventilation fans, working on voltage ranges from 3.3Kv to 1100v.
If you have experience in Mining or quarrying, that’s great! But if not, don’t worry – this role would suit any individual with heavy industrial experience with the desire to learn and develop on mining plant and equipment.
This role operates a staggered 3 shift pattern, with a week of nights, week of afternoons and a week of days including Saturday and Sunday, followed by a rostered week off.
What we’re looking for:
- You will have undertaken a recognised electrical apprenticeship (or similar)
- You must be a time-served electricianwith experience in the installation, repair and maintenance of heavy equipment ideally gained in a processing plant, a mine or a similar heavy industrial environment.
- Understanding of HV/LV distribution systems up to and including 11kV
- Familiarity with computer/PLC control systems plusconveyor and pumping systems would be advantageous.
- Trained and competent with requirements of the Electricity at Work regulations
- Safety is critical and as a business we have a systematic approach to safety and risk assessments.
- Detailed reports and communication skills are an essential attribute we are looking for in an individual.
- As Mine Electrician you must be able to interpret electrical drawings and have a strategic approach to fault finding.
- The understanding of HV industrial power networks would be advantageous, however a period of training and competency development would be given to the successful candidate.
What you will be doing:
You will be accountable for your own and your colleagues’ health and safety, whilst ensuring that all work is carried out to the highest possible standard. You will be expected to have an analytical mind and be able to apply those skills to problem solving and decision making and be able to clearly communicate with others.
Demonstrating a positive and proactive approach, with a continuous improvement mindset, as well as both reactive and planned electrical maintenance work.
In addition:
- Planned and Reactive maintenance and repair work of mining equipment and frontline machinery
- Installation and commissioning of improvement projects with contributions to the design process and final presentation
- Network and communication extensions for advancing wi-fi and SCADA lines.
- Working with permit to works and isolation procedures and LOTOTO is a fundamental process for safe working at the mine.
- We have an HV power network underground to maintain and advance as we develop the mine further.
- The understanding of HV industrial power networks would be advantageous, however a period of training and competency development would be given to the successful candidate.
