At Saint-Gobain PAM, we’re looking for an inspirational Team Leader to work at our Ilkeston Site, which has been in operation for hundreds of years. At Ilkeston, we operate on a 50-acre open air site; you’ll be required to use your leadership experience within a comparable environment to get the best out of your team, so we can deliver for our customers on time, every time.

This Team Leader role will lead and manage a team of up to 25 colleagues. We’re a unique site where we combine traditional values with modern thinking. We’re proud of our heritage. Everybody has a value, and we actively listen to our people and encourage them to offer ideas. People are our strength, and we need first-class leaders to enable them to be their best. Unlike many businesses, we rely upon people not technology to deliver best results.

PAM UK is part of Saint-Gobain, a global organisation which specialises in the supply and manufacture of a vast range of sustainable products for the building sector across the world. PAM UK, based in Ilkeston, offers a complete range of high performance, ductile iron pipeline and access cover systems. We are the leading supplier of ductile iron products for the UK’s water, roads, and telecoms sectors. We also distribute worldwide. We’re proud of the high performance and quality of our products which meet the future needs of our UK infrastructure.

This role is based fully on-site and is to work rotating shifts, a week of days and a week of nights, with the weekends off. In return for your skills and expertise, we can offer you a competitive salary plus many benefits including bonus, pension, and healthcare options. We’ll also give you the support to thrive and the opportunity to increase your earning potential via our development pathway.

What we’re looking for:

  • Demonstrable relevant experience in a logistics first line management role, ideally supported by a leadership qualification.
  • Passionate about learning the role and our business inside out.
  • Ability to plan and react quickly to changes in priority.
  • Organised and structured in approach, good communication.
  • Strong safety ethic with a good understanding of safety protocols and behaviours.
  • Zero tolerance for unsafe situations and behaviours.
  • Ability to inspire and manage a team effectively.
  • Experience of FLT & HGV specifically: picking, loading and unloading and inventory control.
  • A continuous improvement mindset – you’ll innovate and drive improvements, continually seeking to Be Our Best.

What you will be doing:

  • Safely contribute to our aim of being the customer’s first choice, through achieving the desired level of productivity and accuracy in the stockyard.
  • Plan and control workload priorities to ensure our CSI targets are met (Customer Service Index – On Time, In Full, Error Free).
  • Liaise and collaborate effectively with customer services, our logistics provider, management and all other stakeholders.
  • Lead, train and develop your team of Operatives, motivating them to be their best.
  • Manage SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment & Quality) to the appropriate level.

Is this job for you? Are PAM UK and Saint-Gobain inclusive employers? Saint-Gobain is the worldwide leader in light and sustainable construction improving daily life through high-performance solutions. From wherever you are, let your unique personality and our values guide you every day to invent a more sustainable world. We understand that a diverse workplace is not only a more enjoyable place to be, but also facilitates better decision making and innovation. So, whoever you are, and which Saint-Gobain business you join, you can be sure of a warm welcome with us.

What about flexibility?

The world of work is changing. At Saint-Gobain, we’re always open to new ways of working. Everyone has different needs and commitments. We’ll happily discuss any need you might have for this role.
