BTC Scientist

Here at Saint-Gobain Interior Solutions, we are seeking a Scientist to join our innovative team in East Leake, working out of our Building Test Centre (BTC).

We perform fire tests on construction products. This isn’t your stereotypical ‘lab coat and test tube’ laboratory – it can be messy, you’ll be hands on, you will operate machinery, and you’ll certainly get your daily steps in!

This role is based onsite 5 days a week.

What You’ll Be Doing:

As a Scientist in a UKAS accredited fire test laboratory where we conduct a range of testing services you will be at the forefront of ensuring safety in construction.

• Testing & Analysis: Conduct and contribute to fire testing activities, and generating reports
• Safety: having a good attitude to safety and in committing to keeping yourself and others safe.
• Hands-On Work: Participate in test activities, including setup and cleanup, ensuring our facility remains top-notch. Our testing processes are practical and physical, we get a bit mucky and hands on using lifting equipment, a broom and shovel
• Team Collaboration: Undertake various duties as required by your line manager or the management team, supporting our collective goals.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

• Safety Minded: A proactive approach to health and safety in the workplace.
• Problem Solving: The ability to solve problems, and an inquisitive and persevering nature
• Professional Competence: Ability to conduct testing services professionally and to high standards.
• Education/Experience: An Engineering/Scientific degree is desirable but not essential, as is laboratory experience (industry or academic)
