Responsibilities
- Work alongside the class teacher to plan and deliver learning activities for individuals, small groups or the whole class, helping to promote effective teaching and learning.
- Provide valuable support during lessons by helping children stay engaged, focused and ready to learn.
- Step in to supervise the whole class and deliver pre-prepared activities during short-term teacher absence, ensuring continuity and calm throughout the school day.
- Support the teacher with the day-to-day organisation and management of pupils and the classroom, contributing to a positive and orderly learning environment.
- Promote inclusion for all pupils, helping to ensure that every child has equal opportunities to learn, progress and achieve.
- Play an active role in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children across the school, always acting with care, professionalism and integrity.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Clear and kind communication with children, along with professional communication with teachers, parents and carers.
- An understanding that children have different needs and learn in different ways, with a willingness to support each child effectively.
- Experience of working collaboratively with class teachers, the SENCO and other colleagues to support learning and wellbeing.
- Experience of assisting teachers with lesson delivery, supporting individuals and small groups, and helping pupils remain engaged and on task.
- A positive, proactive attitude and a genuine desire to contribute to the life of the school.
- This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.
