Every teacher in the department is very strong and I honestly believe that we have the best Science Department in Surrey! The Science department is committed to delivering outstanding lessons that excite and enthuse the students, creating critical thinkers of the future. Each member of the department is passionate about their subject and continually challenges themselves to develop their own practice as well as supporting each other.
Learning and teaching is always a focus for the department and this forward-thinking team meet regularly to support these developments as well as the significant changes currently taking place at KS4 and KS5. The Science Department is forward-thinking and fast-moving, so lots of energy and enthusiasm will be needed to take on this role. Good ICT skills would also be an advantage.
Results achieved in Science last year were again outstanding. At GCSE, over 95% of students gained grade 4+ with 47% of these being 7+. All three sciences are popular at A Level and the results are also excellent across the board with a 100% pass rate in each and well over 90% gaining A-C grades.
The Science department provides a stimulating environment for learning; there are 12 labs each benefiting from interactive BENQ Screens as well as the expected laboratory equipment such as fume cupboards. Term time only, 39 weeks a year + INSET Days. Hours 8.00am to 4.00pm.
The Senior Science technician is a crucial part of our team and their work with other technicians, staff and students from Years 7 to Years 13 is a cornerstone of our success in Science.
