Overview

Argos is a market leader in general merchandise, operating a high‑traffic website and a sophisticated same‑day delivery and click‑and‑collect service. In this role you will be part of the Trade Planning team, collaborating with cross‑functional partners to maximise the impact of space and display plans on customer experience and sales.

What You Need To Do

  • Create appropriate briefs for various display elements, ensuring creative agency, production and studio teams understand the requirements and timelines.
  • Own the annual ranging calendar and coordinate with commercial, marketing (incl. Zest), and digital teams to gather all activity planning details, communicating any launch date changes to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (Commercial, Marketing, Nectar, Retail, and Creative Agencies) to keep Display and POS critical paths on track.
  • Provide progress tracking and report on compliance to the business on a weekly basis, summarising timing updates and escalating to the Trade Planning Manager when necessary.
  • Ensure planograms are created and work with Retail to issue store communications that support first‑time execution.
  • Prepare artwork instructions and costings, ensuring marketing and finance teams have the information to submit against budget trackers.
  • Coordinate with cross‑functional teams to secure missing information and maintain the latest view of store formats, specifications and inventory across Display and Space elements.
  • Conduct store visits of our estate and competitors to gather best‑practice feedback and generate insights for continuous improvement.
  • Represent Trade Planning in forums and meetings to maximise opportunities across eventing, seasonal showcases, brand activations, licensing and our props and services priorities.
  • Lead the development of the initial display plan in alignment with the Annual plan at the beginning of each year.
  • Own and manage the display planning budget, communicating any changes to the Display Planning Manager.
  • Support the Display Planning Manager in strategic planning, contributing to new ideas and adapting to customer demands.
  • Manage critical paths and develop robust progress tracking to reduce blockers, implementing resolutions for any issues.
  • Communicate with A&R teams to ensure appropriate stock levels for product display launches, including store lists, timings, fixture dimensions, product dimensions and potential fill levels.

  • Confident presenter.
  • Proactive, self‑motivated, organised and diligent with attention to detail.
  • Good MS Office skills, especially Excel and PowerPoint, and strong in project planning tools.
  • Willingness to travel.

  • Demonstrated ability to track progress, resolve blockers and deliver projects on time across multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience influencing senior leadership (C6 level) and collaborating with cross‑functional teams.
  • Proficient in Excel for data analysis, PowerPoint for presentations, and project planning software for complex schedules.
  • Understanding of financial implications of decisions and applying problem‑solving skills to optimise plans.
