What you'll be doing

As a Merchandiser at Sainsbury's, you will play a crucial role in creating visually appealing planograms and supporting the range analysts to deliver ranging activities. You will work collaboratively with various stakeholders and categories across the business, communicating effectively and meeting deadlines on multiple tasks. Utilising your visual awareness and knowledge of good merchandising practices, you will create planograms that strike a balance between customer expectations and category objectives, paying attention to detail. Additionally, you will handle data using merchandising software and excel, ensuring accurate updates and providing central support for store and supplier queries related to planograms. Your dedication, proactive approach, and ability to adapt quickly to tools and systems will contribute to the improvement and utilisation of merchandising practices.

With your strong communication and stakeholder management skills, you effectively collaborate with various teams across the business to ensure the most credible and appealing product ranges for our customers. Your experience in retail, along with your understanding of customer shopping behaviours and the principles of good merchandising, enable you to create planograms that strike the right balance between customer expectations and category objectives. Your ability to handle data and utilise merchandising software, coupled with your efficient and organised approach, ensures the successful implementation of planograms. With a focus on continuous improvement and a commitment to delivering high-quality results, you contribute to the overall success of the Merchandising team at Sainsbury's.

Essential Criteria:

  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage workload effectively.
  • High attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and quality in all aspects of work.
  • Curiosity and proactive mindset, demonstrating initiative and a willingness to learn and improve processes.
  • Comfortable using technology and software, including experience or willingness to work with systems such as BlueYonder.
  • Ability to create and implement planograms with a creative mindset, ensuring effective product placement and compliance with merchandising standards.
