What you\’ll do
As a Product Technologist, your role will encompass the management and delivery of all aspects of the Sainsburys Brand product and technical plans for the Dairy product area. You will work closely with suppliers, product developers, trading, supply chain, and retail teams to ensure the safe, legal, and high-quality production of Sainsbury\’s brand products that meet agreed specifications, standards, and policies. In this role, your focus will be on driving the quality and technical agenda for the Dairy product area, including the delivery of our Net Zero commitments and keeping the customer at the heart of all decisions. You will be responsible for managing and improving the technical performance of the product area, ensuring the safety, legality, and quality of Sainsbury\’s brand products while maintaining brand reputation and due diligence. Additionally, you will manage projects to improve product quality, implement quality standards, and proactively manage the supply base to drive the technical agenda and deliver a step change in product quality. Your role will also involve setting supplier KPIs, managing supplier compliance, and implementing joint business plans and technical plans to enhance product quality and align with the Sainsbury\’s brand strategy. Throughout your work, you will demonstrate commercial awareness, strong technical knowledge, and attention to detail, while driving improvements and ensuring the accurate communication of product information and adherence to standards and regulations.
Who you are
You are an experienced professional responsible for managing the delivery of product and technical plans for your assigned product area. With a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and supplier performance, you collaborate closely with suppliers, product developers, trading, supply chain, and retail teams to ensure the consistent production of high-quality products that meet the specified standards, policies, and customer requirements. As the custodian of quality and Sainsbury\’s brand reputation, you adopt a zero-tolerance approach to any failures and strive to drive improvements in safety, legality, and product quality. With your technical expertise, attention to detail, and commitment to customer satisfaction, you contribute to the success of the Sainsbury\’s brand and play a pivotal role in implementing the company\’s Net Zero commitments.
Essential Criteria
Project Delivery in Food: Demonstrated success in launching and delivering impactful projects within the food sector.
Supplier Collaboration: Experience working directly with suppliers, fostering strong partnerships and ensuring alignment on quality, timelines, and commercial goals.
Product Ownership: Proven ability to manage a product area end-to-end, including range development, performance tracking, and lifecycle management.
Factory Engagement: Confident in independently visiting and assessing factories, with the ability to build relationships and identify opportunities or risks on-site.
