In this role you will be supporting the Sainsbury's commercial team working directly on and with Lego®. You'll be supporting both buying & supply chain functions in everyday responsibilities such as item set up, cost amends, and order book management. In addition, you'll be liaising & working with Lego® directly to build compelling promotional plans for our customers & working across wider functions to support delivery of in store executions.

As a Buying Assistant for Lego® at Sainsbury's, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive administrative support to the Buying team, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and within company timelines to drive overall performance in the Lego® category. You will be responsible for implementing promotional plans, analysing customer reviews and competitor pricing, and responding to internal and external stakeholder queries and changes on behalf of the buying team. Additionally, you will contribute to promotional and events planning administration, negotiating and sourcing activities, product set-up and launch, trading analysis, financial management, team support, and ensuring data integrity and accuracy in all tasks assigned, ultimately supporting the team in achieving their objectives and delivering exceptional service to stakeholders. You will also make regular visits to the Lego® head offices in Slough and London.

As a Buying Assistant, you are a detail-oriented and proactive professional with a strong focus on providing comprehensive administrative support to the Buying team. With a keen interest in market trends, competitor landscapes, and financial implications of decision-making, you excel in executing pricing and promotional plans, maintaining data integrity, and contributing to the overall success of the category through effective negotiation and stakeholder management. Your ability to analyse data, prioritise tasks, and communicate effectively enables you to thrive in a fast-paced environment, deliver exceptional customer service, and drive continuous improvement within the team.

Essential Criteria:
  • Demonstrable background in Buying or Supply Chain, with experience operating in a commercial retail environment.
  • Proven experience managing supplier relationships and leading negotiations, with a track record of delivering value through commercial agreements.
  • Ability to manage complex stakeholder interactions, demonstrating resilience and confidence in challenging conversations and decision-making.
  • High attention to detail, ensuring accuracy across commercial, operational, and supplier-related activity.
  • Experience managing relationships with branded suppliers, ensuring alignment with commercial objectives and category performance.
