Joining Sainsbury's as a Financial Planning & Analysis Analyst - P&L offers a unique opportunity to be part of a dynamic and innovative finance division within a leading retail organisation. You will play a crucial role in supporting the corporate budget, forecasts, and management reporting, working closely with various Finance teams to drive financial performance and strategic decision‑making. What you’ll do:
- You will play a crucial role in supporting the preparation of the corporate budget, forecasts, and corporate plan, specifically focusing on the P&L and other key performance indicators for the business.
- This will involve working closely with Finance teams to understand performance trends, consolidating submissions into the corporate Retail picture, and providing constructive challenge.
- You will assist in producing executive summaries and board papers, as well as ensuring the production of timely and insightful management accounts.
- Additionally, you will coordinate the Latest View process, produce management reporting information, and provide analysis and insight to help the business understand growth drivers and cost implications, while also supporting financial reporting processes and conducting ad hoc financial analysis to support key stakeholders.
Who you are:
- You are a dedicated and results-driven professional currently studying towards a Professional Accounting Qualification (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
- With a strong foundation in financial analysis and reporting, you possess excellent commercial acumen and a desire to excel in the Finance field, particularly within the Retail industry.
- Your effective communication skills, collaborative approach with stakeholders, and ability to prioritise tasks demonstrate your commitment to delivering high-quality financial insights and supporting key decision-making processes.
- Your resilience, continuous improvement mindset, and strong financial controls knowledge make you a valuable asset in driving business performance and financial excellence within the organisation.
- Actively studying towards a recognised professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
- Commercially aware with experience in a large comparable FMCG, Food or Retail business is desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders, including presenting information clearly in both written and verbal formats and working collaboratively to achieve shared outcomes.
- Evidence of planning and prioritisation capability, including managing multiple tasks or deadlines and operating effectively with a degree of autonomy.
- Working knowledge of financial fundamentals, including the importance of sound financial controls and the ability to apply this knowledge in a business environment.
- Practical experience using Microsoft Excel for financial or analytical tasks, such as data analysis, reconciliation, or reporting.
