What you\'ll do
You will play a crucial role in delivering our Category Design Strategy and ensuring that Tu clothing remains relevant and appealing to our customers. Working within the guidelines of the Tu Brand handwriting, you will be responsible for the development and delivery of design strategies for a given category, as well as owning your own category development when appropriate. Your responsibilities will include creating mood boards, design themes, and supporting the delivery of macro and category trends. You will identify new commercial product opportunities aligned with category and marketing growth plans, and design commercial and competitive product ranges tailored to key customer profiles. Additionally, you will collaborate with suppliers to achieve optimum product cost through effective design and engineering, and oversee the product development process from concept design to launch. Your role will involve liaising with various teams, such as Product Technologists and Buyers, to ensure quality standards, cost targets, and critical path targets are met. As a champion for sustainability, you will incorporate sustainable practises in both how we work and the products we deliver. To excel in this role, you should have experience in retail, specifically in clothing, jewellery, or watches markets, and possess strong commercial awareness. You should be knowledgeable about product design and development in the retail industry, with technical expertise in clothing and manufacturing processes. Proficiency in computer software such as Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop is essential, and you should demonstrate strategic thinking and customer-centric decision-making. Above all, you should exemplify positive leadership behaviours and thrive in a values-driven culture that encourages colleagues to be themselves and achieve their full potential.
Essential skills
  • Hybrid working from our Coventry Store Support Centre on average 2 days a week
  • Demonstrable experience in product design and development within the retail industry, with relevant technical knowledge of clothing and manufacturing processes, including product and cost engineering
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, with the ability to produce high-standard design assets and packs for supplier briefing
  • Proven ability to deliver commercial and competitive product ranges aligned to customer profiles and category growth plans
  • Experience managing product development from concept through to launch, collaborating with Buying, Technical, Global Sourcing, and Merchandising teams to meet cost, quality, and critical path targets
  • Demonstrable understanding of UK retail market dynamics, with awareness of international influences and the ability to identify new opportunities that create competitive advantage
