Please note, this role will be predominantly home and field based and will require the post holder to be able to travel across our fulfilment centres across the Midlands region.
As a Regional Engineering Manager at Sainsbury's, you will oversee fleet compliance, uptime, costs, audits, and engineering standards across multiple sites, including in-house and third-party logistics providers. Your role will involve ensuring the fleets are safe, legal, and cost-effective, aligning with Sainsbury's standards. You will work closely with Depot Leadership teams and Central teams to manage fleet incidents, maintenance, and service level agreements, while also playing a crucial role in wider engineering projects, network development, and sustainability initiatives. Your expertise in fleet, Mechanical Handling Equipment (MHE), and compliance legislation will be essential as you drive efficiencies, manage projects, and uphold industry best practices to deliver high-quality and compliant fleet operations.
As a Regional Engineering Manager for Sainsbury's Fleet & Compliance division, you are a seasoned professional with extensive knowledge and experience in fleet management, Mechanical Handling Equipment, and compliance legislation. Your strong understanding of logistics operations, engineering practices, and industry best practices allows you to drive fleet operations in line with high standards and budget requirements. With a sharp commercial focus, ability to analyse data, and make critical decisions in a fast-paced environment, you excel in managing engineering projects, optimising efficiencies, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Essential Skills you need to know and show:
- Extensive knowledge of fleet, Mechanical Handling Equipment and compliance legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Fully understand the end-to-end logistics operations and experience in working in a logistics environment.
- Significant knowledge of Engineering Practices both internally and externally.
- Understand the external trends and best practice for all Fleet, MHE and Compliance.
- Experience using Computer based software systems e.g., Zenith, MHE Manufacturers system.
- Experience in managing and delivering end to end Project management on a smaller scale e.g., Engineering process or systems changes.
- Ability to analyse data and to present that information to stakeholders in an influential manner.
- Excellent relationship and stakeholder management skills - ability to gain commitment to new ways of working.
- An awareness of working in a highly Unionised environment and an understanding of the importance of building positive and mutually beneficial relationships with these key stakeholders.
- Driving licence B preferred C+E.
