Our Argos Commercial & Digital team plays a central role in delivering innovative, customer‑focused propositions within the Services & Propositions division. The New Business team is responsible for identifying and scaling new category opportunities that drive profitable growth. Working cross‑functionally with Buying, Digital, Marketing and Supply Chain, the team delivers compelling, data‑led product ranges that meet evolving customer needs and support long‑term business strategy.
As a New Business Merchandiser, you will be responsible for delivering customer‑focused ranges and executing the SDF New Business strategy through effective planning, forecasting and stock management. You will own the development and phasing of sales and margin budgets, ensuring accurate forecasting across key KPIs including sales, profit, stock and availability. Working closely with the New Business Buyer, you will support the creation and delivery of category strategies and joint business plans with suppliers. Day to day, you will manage trading performance, reviewing weekly results and adapting plans to optimise performance. You will collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders including Buying, Digital, Supply Chain and external suppliers to deliver promotional, pricing and inventory plans. You will also oversee the lifecycle of products, from launch through to range exit, while ensuring strong data integrity, process compliance and operational efficiency. In addition, you will coach and support an Assistant Merchandiser and contribute to continuous improvement in ways of working.
You will have strong analytical and numerical skills, with experience working in a merchandising or planning environment. You are confident managing budgets, forecasts and stock plans, and are comfortable using data to inform decisions and identify opportunities to improve performance. You are organised, detail‑focused and able to prioritise effectively in a fast‑paced retail environment. You are a collaborative team player with strong communication skills, able to build effective relationships with stakeholders and suppliers. You are confident influencing decisions, managing competing priorities and delivering to deadlines. You maintain a high level of accuracy and compliance in your work and are committed to continuous improvement and developing both yourself and others.
Essential Criteria
- Experience managing sales, stock or margin plans within a merchandising or planning environment
- Ability to analyse and interpret data to produce forecasts and inform trading decisions
- Experience using merchandising or planning systems and advanced Excel skills
- Proven ability to manage and review performance against KPIs such as sales, stock and availability
- Experience collaborating with cross‑functional teams to deliver trading, promotional or range plans
