What you’ll do
As a Finance Manager – Technology, you will play a crucial role in partnering with the Director of Product to influence and drive actions across Tech investments, both Capex and Opex, as part of the Sainsbury's Next Level strategy. Working collaboratively with other areas within Commercial Finance, you will prepare business cases focusing on Returns on Investment, report benefits, challenge decisions, and help prioritise the portfolio within the budget envelope. This high-profile role will require you to deliver strong, accurate analysis while cultivating strong relationships with colleagues in the tech team to translate financial data into commercial insight, often presenting to C-Suite stakeholders.
Who you are
You are a professionally qualified accountant with extensive P&L experience and a strong background in investment appraisals. Your ability to partner with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders, combined with your interest in technology and agile methodologies, enables you to provide valuable financial insights and drive strategic decision-making. With your effective communication skills, proactive approach, and commitment to developing junior colleagues, you play a critical role in influencing and shaping financial strategies within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Essential Criteria
- Professionally qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, or CIMA) with proven P&L ownership
- Demonstrable experience preparing and challenging investment appraisals/business cases, including Capex and Opex evaluation and ROI analysis
- Proven background in Commercial Finance Business Partnering within a large, multi-function organisation, working with senior stakeholders up to C-Suite level
- Ability to translate financial analysis into commercial insight, evidenced through influencing decisions and driving prioritisation across complex portfolios
- Practical understanding of Product/Tech environments (e.g., Agile or Product-led delivery) with demonstrable experience operating in fast-paced, change-driven settings
